Discover Sutton Bonington
Sutton Bonington Student Village is a popular student accommodation choice for those studying at the University of Nottingham Sutton Bonnington Campus – home to world-leading bioscience and veterinary science departments.
A small country village in Nottinghamshire, Sutton Bonington is a cosy community, with local restaurants and pubs you will want to become familiar with, such as the Anchor Inn and the Kings Head.
But it's not just about village life. The Sutton Bonnington Campus is also near to picturesque landscapes along the River Soar. These magnificent vistas can make anyone feel at home in an instant.
Our Bonington student village is only a 30-minute drive from Nottingham and has a comfortable, safe and relaxed student vibe. If you’re a sports fan, there’s a host of sporting events in the city of Nottingham to choose from, including football, cricket, and ice hockey. There are also large music venues to enjoy with the Nottingham Arena hosting many events throughout the year, as well as a popular theme park, Alton Towers, which is approximately 40-minutes away.
Bonington Student Village
On the University of Nottingham’s Sutton Bonington campus, and a free bus away from the main campus, Bonington Student Village is ideal for students at Nottingham or Loughborough University looking for a relaxed environment with quick access to the city. The Village is nestled in next to shops, a supermarket and a sports centre, as well as ample outdoor space for you to enjoy around campus.
Places to explore
Sutton Bonington might be a more rural place to live, but if you’re craving some more energy and vibrancy, there are plenty of different nearby areas that you can visit in between your studies.
Nottingham
Named a ‘City of Literature' by UNESCO, and the ‘Home of English Sport’ by VisitEngland, Nottingham boasts a legacy of athletes, writers, and musicians. There’s also a surplus of shopping centres, museums, and festivals, including the annual Pride and Denotate events.
Transport links between Nottingham and the Sutton Bonnington Campus are excellent. This means Nottingham is never a short bus journey away.
Loughborough
Loughborough is a great place to visit for classic entertainment without the hassle of the city. With a cinema, market, and variety of food and drink locations, Loughborough is a perfect middle ground between the quiet and serene Sutton Bonington and the busy Nottingham.
Derby
With its own unique style and charm, Derby is an excellent choice for a day trip. You can explore the city's cathedral, where you can climb the 189 steps to see spectacular views of Derby and the surrounding counties. Be sure also to check out Derby's Market Hall, which is home to an eclectic mix of bustling traditional and contemporary stalls.
How to Get Around
Sutton Bonington has great local transport links, meaning its student residents can enjoy an easy trip away from the Sutton Bonington Campus.
With free buses to the University of Nottingham's Park Campus, and consistent links to the city, Bonington's location is rural but connected.
Bus
Regular buses go to and from the University of Nottingham for free, and further buses are available for a short trip to Nottingham Trent and Loughborough University. These can also take you to the city with ease for whenever you fancy a day out.
Drive
Although the buses are regular and reliable, some may want to bring a car. With on-site parking, you can explore the midlands with no restrictions.
