Posted 28 February 2022 in Health & Wellbeing, Food & Drink

Are you looking for a natural source of energy or want to liven up your breakfast? Why not try whizzing up a smoothie!

Drinking a smoothie a day can help you increase your intake of fruit and vegetables while also providing a nutritional balance of fats, proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals.

Below we've listed our five favourite nutritious smoothie recipes packed full of fresh fruit and veg to help you feel energised throughout the day.

Ready...steady...blend!

Raspberry and Apple

This raspberry and apple smoothie is a great way to start the day and up your fruit intake.

For such a delicate fruit, raspberries pack a lot of nutrition. They provide potassium, which is essential for heart function, and have been proven to lower blood pressure. They also contain a mineral called manganese, which is necessary for healthy bones and skin and helps regulate blood sugar.

Clean Green

Try not to be deceived by the colour; this smoothie is incredibly sweet and refreshing. The addition of spinach (which is jam-packed full of fibre) gives it its fresh green tint.

Want to make it even greener? Why not add a spoonful of Maca Powder for a natural energy boost.

Carrot and Orange

Have you ever thought of turning your leftover carrots into a smoothie? Simply add orange, ginger and oats for a drink rammed full of vitamin C and antioxidants.

Not a fan of ginger? Why not try adding another spice like nutmeg or cinnamon.

Pineapple

Whether you're stuck on what to have for breakfast or a light snack, this tropical combination of pineapple and banana with lime juice is a refreshing choice!

Using pineapple as the main ingredient helps to make this smoothie rich in vitamins, enzymes, and antioxidants.

Watermelon

Keep hydrated with a watermelon smoothie, the perfect refreshing treat to quench your thirst on a warm summer's day.

Watermelon is made up of 92%, making this a great smoothie to help increase your daily water intake.
