In celebration of International Women’s Day, we’ve decided to share four of our favourite female-empowering influencers who create engaging content aimed to inspire, motivate and empower your daily scroll.  

The iconic women behind these accounts are all UK based and use their feeds to highlight vital issues such as women’s mental health, body positivity, climate change, equality, politics, and so much more.

Mikaela Loach - @mikaelaloach 

Mikaela Loach is a climate justice activist, blogger, and podcaster from Edinburgh. If you’re looking for a sustainable influencer to inspire you to make more environmentally friendly choices, you should definitely check out Mikaela’s feed. When not studying towards her medical degree Mikaela spends her spare time fighting for the future of the planet and educating her followers on how accessible it is to be sustainable.   

Alongside her fellow climate justice activist Josephine Becker (@treesnpeace), Mikaela co-hosts ‘YIKES’, an award-winning podcast that encourages conversation around the climate crisis, racism, activism and more. 

Adwoa Aboah - @gurlstalk  

Founded by model Adwoa Aboah, Gurls Talk provides resources and a safe space for women from all backgrounds to discuss and listen to one another chat about depression, sexuality, body image, mental health, and social justice without judgment.   

Scarlett Curtis - @scarcurtis  

Scarlett Curtis is a writer, activist and journalist who has published two Sunday Times bestselling books and is the co-founder of the activist collective, The Pink Protest, which aims to redefine what activism means to young people. In 2017 they organised the Free Periods campaign, which changed the UK law to fund sanitary products in every state school and college in England.   

Florence Given - @florencegiven  

Florence Given is an illustrator, writer and feminist social activist. Her debut book ‘Women Don’t Owe You Pretty’ saw Florence become the youngest author to hold a position in the top 5 of the Sunday Times best-seller list for a consecutive 12 weeks in a row. Florence uses her platform to confront attitudes towards women and their bodies and raise awareness for issues surrounding consent, sexuality, race and gender.   

Most recently, Florence has launched a podcast, ‘Exactly. With Florence Given’, which sees her speak to a wide range of fascinating guests and explores topics of conversation such as social media, feminism, relationships and body image.
